Facing a 16 TB PDF migration challenge with security and cost concerns
Our client faced the significant challenge of migrating a substantial 16 TB volume of PDF files, stored in an Oracle database as BLOB data types, to AWS S3. The primary objective was to execute this migration seamlessly, ensuring data integrity and security throughout the process, while striving to reduce storage costs.
They had network-level contention to send the data over the internet. However, migrating 16 TB files through this network was complex.

Streamlined PDF export, secure LAN-based data transfer, and seamless AWS S3 integration
Our team proposed and executed a comprehensive solution to address the client's unique challenges.
We implemented a dynamic process for exporting PDF files from the Oracle database using PowerShell scripts & organizing them by type and business modules. To overcome network limitations, we efficiently imported data through local FTP using AWS Snowball over a LAN connection. After Snowball reached AWS, the data was transferred to S3, and we performed a secure device wipe to uphold data integrity.
