Our client faced the significant challenge of managing multiple transportation management systems (TMS) – encompassing domestic, intermodal, and international loads. The data from all three TMS systems were consolidated and maintained within an Azure SQL Data Warehouse. They aimed to develop a customer portal for monitoring loads across systems, regardless of the origin of the TMS system.
Recognizing the need for unified customer data, the client sought to construct a global customer database. Simultaneously, a pivotal challenge emerged while transitioning load-related data from the legacy SQL Data Warehouse to an Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL database on a separate network. Efficient data migration with AWS DMS: We implemented an efficient data synchronization framework by leveraging AWS Data Migration Service. Our team smoothly migrated over 15 tables with 500GB, from SQL Server to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
Secured migration in a dedicated VPC: We ensured network isolation by deploying DMS replication instances within a dedicated Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). This setup ensures migration tasks operate separately from ongoing production traffic, fostering security and efficiency throughout the migration process.
Optimized schema transformation through AWS DMS: Our team utilized AWS DMS capabilities to refine schema transformation, mapping data types and ensuring seamless SQL-to-PostgreSQL compatibility to streamline the migration process.
Robust security with AWS DMS features: Employed AWS DMS features, including encryption in transit and at rest, upheld strict security standards, safeguarding sensitive financial data throughout the migration.
